Julie Grieve, Vistage Chair

Your Chair

Julie Grieve

Julie chairs two Vistage groups, and knows exactly why the room matters, because she sat in one herself. She was a Vistage member from 2004 to 2011 and found it transformational, which is exactly why she now chairs V40 (West of Scotland) and V565 (East of Scotland), bringing that same blend of support, challenge, learning and accountability to Scottish CEOs.

Before Vistage, she built and sold two businesses. As MD and eventually shareholder of Abbey Business Centres, she turned a loss-making serviced office business into one turning over more than £21m, selling to Regus (now IWG) in 2011, and chaired the Business Centre Association along the way. She then grew Lateral City’s serviced apartment business from nothing to £4m, before founding Criton in 2016: a hospitality tech company simplifying digital transformation for independent hotels, which grew fast through Covid and sold to Nonius in December 2021.

She’s at her best outside her comfort zone, and wants the same for the CEOs she works with, alongside her ongoing work supporting start-ups and scale-ups, including plenty of female founders, through Techscaler, Barclays Eagle Labs and AccelerateHER. Away from work she’s usually walking her two cocker spaniels on Elie beach, working on her golf handicap, or murdering a tune at the piano.

In their words

What members say about the room

“

You get an opportunity to run ideas past people with no vested interests, which I think is fantastic.

We needed to invest, and we really needed to get our mojo back. Joining Vistage became a turning point, helping me systematically navigate the firm through issues to emerge stronger, wiser and better. We’ve won several prestigious awards in recent years.

Murray McColl, Managing Partner, Anderson Strathern

“

It’s been eye opening and challenging. Exactly what I hoped it would be.
